A Message of Solidarity from the Episcopal Church in the Philippines

In the wake of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, the Episcopal Church in the Philippines joins Christians and people of goodwill worldwide in mourning the loss of a beloved spiritual leader. Pope Francis was a beacon of faith, humility, and deep compassion. His unwavering commitment to justice, peace, and the dignity of all people has left an indelible mark on the global Church.

Throughout his papacy, Pope Francis reminded us of the sacred duty to care for the marginalized, the poor, the sick, the refugee, and the oppressed. His calls for environmental stewardship and his advocacy for the common good continue to inspire our collective work for a more just and compassionate world. In his example, we find a call to live out the Gospel not only through words but also through acts of mercy and love.

We, in the Episcopal Church in the Philippines recognize Pope Francis’ efforts to bring Christians closer together, fostering deeper understanding and collaboration. His dedication to ecumenism and dialogue has opened new paths of unity and reconciliation. As fellow members of the Body of Christ, we are grateful for the opportunities to walk in solidarity with our Catholic brothers and sisters, both in the Philippines and around the world.

In this time of loss, we lift up our prayers for the Roman Catholic Church and all who are affected by Pope Francis’ passing. May his legacy of peace, compassion, and unity continue to guide our shared mission as we strive to embody Christ’s love for all people. We are united in the hope that, through the Holy Spirit, we will continue to walk together toward the fulfillment of God’s Kingdom.

We pray for the strength to continue the work that Pope Francis so faithfully exemplified, and we offer our deepest condolences to all who mourn.
